Associate Editor

The Associate Editor is an individual contributor that carries out assigned aspects of animated feature film editing work. Works with the Director, creative director and senior editors to provide editorial support to the production through the building of edits that provide a cutting pattern, pacing and narrative for the animation editorial. Assists the look development team in pre-production through building reference material within the production’s R&D phase.
Responsibilities
• Carries out assigned aspects of animation feature editing activities. • Compiles and maintains continuity and integrity issues list. • Participates in preparation and organization of editorial materials related to the film such as story reels, work prints, previews and tape outputs. • Assists in organizing, storing, handing and lining up digital and photographic elements. • Prepare outputs for internal reviews, screenings, and studio deliveries. • Troubleshoot technical issues related to editing software and media workflows. • With guidance, carries out assigned editing tasks. • Able to edit multiple types of animated sequences. • Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets. • Familiarity with animation production pipelines.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s (BA) degree from accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience • 2 years experience editing picture and dialogue on a non linear editing system – either Avid or Final Cut Pro HD. • Solid knowledge of film terminology, film techniques, film editing styles, film mixing, and film in general • Demonstrable ability to communicate thoughts and ideas to co-workers • Able to take direction and work well with others • Creative individual who can inspire and shares a passion for teamwork and a quality feature motion picture.
