JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Lead Environments Artist Department: Digital Studio Reports to: Digital Artist Manager, Environments Supervisor Status: Non-exempt Classification: Full Time Date: Immediately
Purpose of the job
The Environments Lead oversees a team of environments artists as it creates or recreates fully synthetic environments within a large visual effects pipeline, using tools and techniques to optimize and streamline the generated content. The Environments Lead participates in determining the method and procedures for the project while working closely with the CG Supervisor to ensure all elements meet the aesthetic and technical standards for the project.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- With a thorough understanding of 3D and 2.5D (projection) pipelines, oversees the
development of the environments pipeline.
- Oversees translation of concept art into photorealistic environments.
- Assigns tasks to the environments team and ensures production deadlines are met.
- Works closely with other dependent departments to ensure environments are working smoothly
throughout the production pipeline.
- Completes or oversees the most difficult work and complex sequences.
- Works closely with Production to determine staffing and scheduling needs for the environments
team.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- 6+ yrs experience with modeling, UV-ing, texturing, lighting, compositing and matte painting.
- Preferably technical knowledge of lenses and camera bodies (filmback, distortion etc).
- Being able to use photographic content from different media appropriately in set re-creation
(stills, HDRI etc).
- Experience in working in a world-scale environment versus single shots.
- Experience with the following software:
o Maya o Photoshop o NUKE o Vray
- Experience in games environments is a plus.
- Working with on-set assets.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience in games environments a plus
- Working with on-set assets
- Creating postviz for sequences

- Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending
production needs
