As we expand into Canada with the launch of our Toronto studio, we continue to partner with leading global streaming platforms and broadcasters on premium episodic and feature productions. We’re looking for a leader to help shape and drive this next phase of our growth.
Job Description
The Head of VFX is responsible for leading the creative and technical direction of the Toronto studio, ensuring the successful delivery of high-end visual effects for episodic and feature productions.
This role begins with an initial placement in Tenerife, Spain (April - August), where the successful candidate will supervise VFX on a flagship Apple TV+ series. During this phase, they will oversee creative output, manage team performance, and act as the primary client-facing representative.
In parallel, the Head of VFX will work closely with executive leadership to establish the operational, creative, and cultural foundations of the Toronto studio — including hiring strategy, pipeline development, and client engagement.
From late August onward, the role transitions to Toronto, where the Head of VFX will lead the studio in a hybrid-work role, building and mentoring a high-performing team while driving creative excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise VFX on a high-profile Apple TV+ series from our Tenerife studio, ensuring creative and technical excellence
- Act as the primary point of contact for production and network stakeholders, maintaining strong client relationships
- Collaborate with leadership to define and implement the vision, culture, and strategic direction of the Toronto studio
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class VFX team
- Establish and oversee workflows, pipelines, and quality standards
- Drive team performance and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery
- Support business development efforts and build long-term client partnerships
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in VFX, with at least 3 years in a senior supervisory role on high-end episodic or feature productions
- Strong compositing background
- Proven track record delivering VFX for premium productions (streaming, broadcast, or theatrical)
- Established residency in Ontario, Canada
- Ability to attend in-person meetings and work from the Toronto studio as needed
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills
- Strong client-facing experience with confidence in high-level creative discussions
- Passion for building teams, pipelines, and studio culture
- Availability to be based in Spain from mid-April through August, then relocate to Toronto from late August onward
- Experience working across international teams and time zones is an advantage
