Production Accountant
Purpose of the job
The Production Accountant will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a variety of time-sensitive reports in production accounting. This role will be instrumental in providing ongoing analysis of the financial health of projects and reports actual and projected forecasts to the production accounting team. A true hybrid role, the Production Accountant will also collaborate with other production accountants in maintaining and updating project Estimated Final Cost reports. Problem solving, analysis and forecasting are important components of this role and will be part of a fast-moving and dynamic working environment.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Responsible to help manage the day to day oversight of various projects’ financial health
- Weekly updating of project Estimated final cost reports
- Assists producers and other production accountants with bidding, budgeting and projections
- Partners with Accounting department for day to day oversight of general accounting needs
- Works closely with accounting on month end financial reporting tasks and calculations
- Support OH, Production and P&L forecasting and planning activities across the Studio
- Support preparation of consolidated OH deliverables and trending analysis
- Assist with by-title P&L project profitability reporting across all units
- Prepares cost analyses and other special reports as needed
- Reviews and codes production-specific purchase orders and invoices
- Reviews weekly details reports for accuracy and makes reclassifications as required
- Provides show information needed for facility forecasting and planning
- Maintains assigned production accounting records/master costs database/entry etc.
- Analyze projects’ estimated production tax credits
- Prepares and manages billing and collections for assigned productions
- Generates standard weekly financial reports and ad-hoc reports as needed
- Supports payroll processing and timecards
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 2+ years of industry related accounting
experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- VFX experience preferred; must have experience in project-based work
- Advanced Excel skills (VBA & Macros) and proficiency with database applications
- Exposure to Oracle projects and/or Oracle Fusion a plus
- Production related software experience preferred (i.e. CETA, ShotGun, FilemakerPro, or other
applicable programs)
- Excellent oral, written and analytical skills required
- Strong financial modelling abilities
- Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and project management skills
- Attention to detail, desire for accuracy and a strong sense of urgency
- Self-motivated, ability to quickly learn new concepts, solve problems and implement solutions

- Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending
production needs

The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the state of California and the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec. The range is posted in accordance with applicable law. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in markets outside of California or the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec. Offered base pay is contingent on internal equity, as well as the candidate’s geographic region, job related knowledge, skills, experience, and other factors.
