Rigger

RIGGER COMPANY DESCRIPTION Soho VFX, a leading visual effects studio located in Toronto, is currently seeking an experienced Rigger to join our growing team. We have many exciting projects in the works and we offer a great working environment and team of artists to collaborate with. RESPONSIBILITIES - Implement animation control rigging systems for complex characters and props using Maya. - Set up rigs for low and high-res characters. - Set up and rig character models. - Work with animators to design, create, modify and maintain animation rigs for characters that are clean, efficient and animation friendly. - Design user interfaces and controls for characters and facial animation systems (bone and blend shape driven). - Maintain and improve current animation pipeline. - Knowing of animation sharing and motion capture transfer between character rigs. - Maintain a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work. - Troubleshoot and wrangle character rigging issues for artists. - Work closely with Leads, Supervisors to ensure work is being done in an efficient way that aligns with our pipeline. QUALIFICATIONS - Must be an Ontario resident. - Should have a minimum of 3 years feature film or television visual effects experience in a similar role. - Must have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. - Experience in setting up crowd, skin and muscle simulation rigs. - Experience with Maya. - Experience with MEL, CSH, Python, TCL, PERL or other scripting languages required. - Skilled knowledge of anatomy for animals/quadrapeds and humans/bipeds. - Experience as a modeller or animator is an asset. - Ability to stay calm under pressure of deadlines. - Must be able to take direction and work well in a fast paced environment as well as show strong troubleshooting skills and be able to work independently when required. - Must be able to work individually and as a team to solve problems and take initiative. - Experience with procedural workflow using Houdini or Blender is a plus.
