Software Team Lead – Animation, Creature FX, Rigging and Crowds (Brahma AI - A DNEG Dedicated Unit of Brahma)

Description

Position at DNEG

At Brahma AI, we’re building a team to push the boundaries of Creatures technology in VFX and Feature Animation. Working closely with artists, we’re shaping a forward-looking vision and developing the tools to bring it to life.

You’ll be a key member of a multidisciplinary team creating frameworks, engines, and pipelines for rigging, simulation, animation and crowds. We’ll support you in aligning your skills and ambitions with this vision.

As a Software Team Lead, you’ll balance hands-on development with team leadership. You’ll act as Product Owner for some products, and partner with others to provide technical direction. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, shape roadmaps across Animation, TV, and VFX, and guide your team in delivering well-defined user stories on schedule.

You’ll drive momentum, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality tools for artists and TDs, while working with managers and partners to promote adoption. You’ll also mentor your team, contribute to design and code reviews, and uphold strong engineering standards and best practices.

Must have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant professional experience
  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Experience architecting, implementing and maintaining complex software products
  • Experience with rigging, crowds and/or CFX production workflows
  • Strong programming experience in C++ and/or Python
  • Strong knowledge of DCCs for CG production (Katana, Solaris, Maya, Houdini, etc.)
  • Experience of software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with source control systems and developing collaboratively as part of a team

Nice to have:

  • Experience developing machine learning models
  • Experience developing AI-based solutions
  • Experience with unit/integration testing
  • Knowledge of the VFX, Feature Animation or Video Game creative workflows
  • Maya and Houdini API experience
  • Experience developing multi-threaded and/or GPU solutions

DNEG Dedicated Unit (DDU)

The DDU operates within BRAHMA AI and works closely with DNEG to develop technology used directly in production.

The team builds tools, platforms and workflows that support VFX and Feature Animation pipelines across DNEG’s global studios.

Much of the work focuses on artist-facing tools, large production pipelines, simulation and rendering workflows, and systems that need to run reliably across distributed teams.
