Tech Runner

Position at DNEG

Tech Runner – Must be eligible to be Onsite

About the role

Our Technology team keeps the infrastructure of a busy, creative visual effects studio running smoothly. We're looking for a motivated Tech Runner to support the day-to-day operations of the department, getting hands-on experience across a range of technical and production environments.

This is an entry-level role designed as a stepping stone into a junior artist or production position. You'll be embedded in a fast-moving studio environment, learning how a world-class VFX technology department operates from the inside.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the Technology team with day-to-day tasks and general assistance
  • Assisting with basic troubleshooting and escalating issues where necessary
  • Keeping tech spaces, equipment, and storage areas organised and tidy
  • Running errands and logistics within the studio as needed
  • Shadowing senior team members to build knowledge across technical disciplines
  • Helping onboard and assist staff with basic tech queries
  • Assisting with screening room maintenance and upkeep
  • Assisting with IO tasks as directed by the team
  • Representing the Technology team in a client-facing capacity where required, maintaining a professional manner at all times
  • Helping to set up and break down equipment for meetings, events, and productions

What we're looking for

  • A genuine interest in VFX, film, or television production
  • Some hands-on experience with VFX software such as Nuke, Maya, or similar
  • At least a basic understanding of PC building and hardware components
  • A professional and personable manner, comfortable interacting with clients and senior stakeholders
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive, can-do attitude
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Comfortable working at pace in a busy studio environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player

Nice to have

  • A degree in VFX, film studies, or a related discipline
  • Some familiarity with Mac, Windows, or Linux environments
  • Basic understanding of AV or IT equipment
  • Experience with JIRA or similar ticketing systems
  • Any prior experience in a studio, production, or tech environment

About you

You're enthusiastic, dependable, and hungry to break into the industry. You don't mind getting stuck in with the unglamorous stuff because you understand the value of learning from the ground up. You're observant, pick things up quickly, and are always looking for ways to be useful. You understand the importance of professionalism in a client-facing environment and can represent the team with confidence and composure.
