We are seeking a structured and hands-on Project Manager to support our Stage Engineering initiatives. You’ll manage the planning, delivery, and adoption of tools and processes across Volumetric Capture, Data Processing, Dataflow, and Virtual Production, ensuring technical work is clearly scoped, tracked, and aligned with production needs and strategic business goals.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Stage Engineering, Applied Innovation, Virtual Production, VFX, and New Business teams to translate creative and technical requirements into clear project plans supporting our Stages. You'll support initiatives such as volumetric capture and processing workflows, mobile shoot setup, real-time production processes, and dataflow tooling. You’ll help identify delivery risks early, including quality-bar concerns, processing bottlenecks, offline shoot requirements, and workflow limits that may affect client commitments.
Success in this role requires strong communication, practical judgement, and the ability to bring structure to fast-moving technical work. You’ll help teams stay aligned on scope, priorities, timelines, dependencies, and trade-offs, while making sure decisions are documented and visible. This role is ideal for someone who can operate between engineering and production, understands the need for disciplined execution, and can help move experimental stage workflows into reliable, supported production use.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Stage Engineering initiatives from requirement definition to production-ready deployment across Capture, Processing, Dataflow, and Virtual Production workflows.
- Translate creative, production, and engineering needs into structured project plans with clear scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
- Support mobile capture workflow planning, including mobile rig enablement, volcap data capture, processing workflows, camera support, and handoffs between Virtual Production and VFX environments.
- Create clear, phased roadmaps that outline which solutions, tools, or workflows to implement first based on maximum impact and feasibility.
- Define production-readiness criteria and coordinate pilot planning, rollout, support readiness, and rollback considerations for new or changing stage workflows.
- Track project progress, surface risks early, and clearly frame trade-offs and recommendations for technical leaders and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Applied Innovation, Virtual Production, VFX, New Business, Security, Tech Support, and other partner teams to ensure alignment before broad adoption.
- Ensure documentation, support models, and training materials are in place before workflows are rolled out to production teams.
- Ensure reporting follows best practices, providing visibility into project status, key milestones, and risks.
- Manage stakeholder communication, keeping all business units informed, aligned, and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Measure and report adoption, delivery progress, workflow performance, and operational impact to support planning and prioritization.
- Provide project management guidance to non-Project Management-led initiatives, offering best practices, frameworks, and tools to help teams structure and manage their projects effectively, even when a dedicated Project Manager is not assigned.
- Define and maintain standards, best practices, and operating frameworks for technology project management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in VFX, Animation, Games, Virtual Production, or technology teams delivering technology initiatives that support digital content creation.
- Strong understanding of core project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches; PMP, Scrum Master, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Strong understanding of VFX, Virtual Production, and stage-based production workflows, including capture, processing, dataflow, and asset handoff between teams.
- At least 3 years of experience managing cross-functional technical projects, including pilots, rollouts, production-readiness planning, documentation, and adoption support.
- Experience working with engineering, production, creative, and business stakeholders to translate technical work into clear plans, risks, milestones, and decisions.
- Strong curiosity about emerging stage technologies, mobile capture workflows, volumetric capture, camera systems, production data pipelines, and hybrid VP/VFX workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to bring structure to fast-moving initiatives where scope, requirements, and delivery paths may still be evolving.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
- Able to identify and surface risks early, including quality-bar concerns, processing bottlenecks, remote data transfer constraints, offline shoot requirements, and client-impacting workflow limits.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Prioritizes people and collaboration over process, using structure to support alignment, accountability, and delivery.
- Able to work independently, remain calm through change, and help teams move from exploration toward reliable, supported production workflows.
