Front End Developer
Rotor Studios is an award-winning CG studio creating cutting-edge digital experiences for the automotive industry. With over 20 years of experience, we work with leading local and international automotive brands to deliver world-class vehicle configurators and immersive interactive experiences.
We're looking for a mid-level Freelance Front-end Developer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and can quickly become a productive part of an established development team.
About the Role
You'll work alongside our front-end, back-end and Unreal Engine developers, designers and project managers to build and maintain sophisticated web applications. We're looking for someone who can confidently work across multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
This is a freelance contract role with the potential for ongoing engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance React-based web applications.
- Build responsive, accessible and high-performing user interfaces.
- Collaborate closely with designers, back-end developers, Unreal Engine developers and project managers.
- Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and existing services.
- Write clean, maintainable and scalable code following best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
- Deliver high-quality work within project timelines while managing competing priorities.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of commercial front-end development experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agency, studio or product environment.
- Ability to hit the ground running and quickly understand existing codebases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently as part of a distributed team.
- A passion for building polished digital experiences.
Must Have
- Strong commercial experience with React.
- Excellent HTML5, CSS3 and SASS/LESS or CSS-in-JS experience.
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript skills.
- Experience using Git and modern front-end tooling (npm, Vite/Webpack).
- Experience building responsive, mobile-first applications.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Web Components.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
- Experience with design systems or component libraries.
- Knowledge of accessibility and front-end performance optimisation.
- Experience with 3D, WebGL or interactive digital experiences.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows is a bonus.
