Position overview
We're seeking a talented and hungry Senior Unreal Pipeline Developer role within our Core Technology Group (CTG) department to play a key role in our evolving cutting edge proprietary Realtime Rendering System that is key in converting all our post production workflows to Unreal Editor to enable mass production scale, both on prem and in the cloud.
You will act as a hybrid technical expert, advising on and delivering solutions for each aspect of required features, ranging from blueprint solutions, c++ custom actors, or the primarily python pipeline holding it all together.
Reporting directly to the Solution Architect within CTG, you will take an active role in the design and management of all areas of the pipeline, with particular focus on the Unreal side. You will use various technical competencies, including but not limited to software development, graphics pipeline dev, unreal inbuilt features, and unreal customisations where they don’t exist in order to enable the custom workflows and artist tooling we all dream up to make the product first class.
- Unreal Development: Lead the design and development of solutions using Unreal Engine’s framework (C++, Python, and Blueprints).
- Pipeline & Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain core middleware libraries. Collaborate on configurator build and deployment processes using Jenkins, Perforce, and environment management tools like Rez.
- Systems Engineering: Update, debug, and manage custom builds or releases of Unreal Engines as required to reduce legacy reliance.
- Pipeline & Tools: Collaborate on pipeline workflows backed by the deadline render farm, and utilising proprietary tools like our Configuration Management Engine (CME) for shot and breakdown management. Integration with other 3rd party systems such as Jira, Workfront, etc.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor application performance and memory to identify and resolve bottlenecks to optimise render throughput at scale.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor Technical Artists and junior developers to ensure work adheres to application system design and optimization standards.
- Documentation: Maintain technical documentation via the wiki and contribute to our development methodologies as they evolve with AI assistance.
Who Will Love This Job
- A Problem Solver: You think about the bigger picture and are a pro at connecting the dots. You value iterative improvements and recognize when to avoid "expensive" myopic fixes.
- A Servant Leader: You see your success in the team's accomplishments and enjoy guiding others through technical challenges.
- A Doer: You are hands-on, enjoy seeing your work in production, and thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- An Excellent Communicator: You excel at explaining complex technical processes concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
