About DIGIC

Having won numerous prestigious awards, we are the creative force behind short films for world-renowned brands such as Call of Duty, Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots, and Amazon’s Secret Level series.

Building on this heritage, we are now expanding our feature animation division (Digic Animation), currently developing high-profile projects such as the animated film series based on MAGIC: THE GATHERING for Netflix.

The Role

As a Mid-level Character/Hard-surface Modelling Artist, you are a core contributor to our asset production. You possess a strong balance of artistic flair and technical discipline, allowing you to create high-quality characters and/or hard-surface assets that fit seamlessly into our stylized pipeline. You are comfortable working semi-autonomously, taking 2D concepts through to production-ready 3D models while maintaining high standards of topology and form.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Production: Create high-quality 3D models for characters, creatures, and hard-surface vehicles or props based on 2D concept art and unit standards.
  • Technical Compliance: Ensure all models meet specific pipeline requirements, including clean topology, efficient UV layouts, and optimization for rigging and surfacing.
  • Stylized Execution: Accurately interpret stylized designs, maintaining the specific "look and feel" of the production across all assets.
  • Workflow Participation: Use production tracking tools (Shotgrid) to manage tasks, versioning, and feedback loops effectively.
  • Collaboration: Communicate proactively with the Lead and Senior artists to ensure technical alignment and aesthetic consistency.

Essential skills

  • Solid Modelling Proficiency: Professional experience in ZBrush and Maya, with a portfolio demonstrating a strong grasp of both organic and hard-surface modelling.
  • Topological Foundation: A clear understanding of edge-flow for animation and deformation, as well as mechanical functionality for hard-surface assets.
  • Style Adaptability: The ability to work within a defined stylized aesthetic while maintaining high-end production quality.
  • Software Fluency: Competency in industry-standard 3D software and a working knowledge of production management pipelines.
