Senior Business Data Analyst

Role Overview

We are seeking a Business Data Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across production, operations, recruitment, finance, and business strategy within the VFX and media industry. The ideal candidate will transform complex data into actionable insights, helping leadership optimize resource planning, project performance, talent acquisition, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, validate, and analyze data from multiple business systems.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to monitor key business and production metrics.
  • Analyze project performance, utilization, productivity, and forecasting data.
  • Partner with Production, Talent Acquisition, Finance, HR, and Studio Operations teams to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Create workforce planning and hiring analytics to support recruitment strategies.
  • Conduct profitability, revenue, and cost analyses across projects and departments.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop KPI frameworks and ensure accurate tracking of business objectives.
  • Automate recurring reports and improve data processes for efficiency.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • MBA In Finance would be a bonus.
  • 6-10 years of experience in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or similar roles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, reporting automation, and dashboard creation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with project management and resource planning tools.
  • Knowledge of Python, R, or advanced analytics techniques.
  • Experience with forecasting, predictive analytics, and workforce planning.

  • Accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Improved business visibility through dashboards and analytics.
  • Work closely with the President, CEO and major stakeholders.
  • Enhanced resource utilization and forecasting accuracy.
  • Data-driven recommendations leading to measurable business improvements.
  • Increased efficiency through reporting automation and process optimization.
