Unreal Cinematic Artist

About Us

Since 2014, we’ve been bringing imagination to life through world-class technology and extraordinary talent. As a global studio spanning Scanning, Mocap, VFX and Animation, our employees are part of shaping what’s next.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Unreal Cinematic Artist to join Goodbye Kansas Studios and support an exciting upcoming realtime project.

You’ll take cinematic sequences from initial brief and storyboard through to final Unreal Engine render, combining a strong visual eye with the technical confidence to solve problems independently.

Working closely with the project Director and wider creative team, you’ll help shape narrative beats, camera language, composition and pacing, while owning the practical execution of sequences within Unreal Engine.

We’re looking for someone who can move quickly, make confident creative decisions and take ownership of their work from start to finish.

What you’ll be doing

  • Create storyboards and previs sequences from creative briefs and direction.
  • Build, edit and refine cinematic sequences using Unreal Engine Sequencer.
  • Animate and pace cameras to create compelling shots and narrative moments.
  • Edit sequences in Adobe Premiere, with a strong understanding of framing, composition and pacing.
  • Create simple animations where required to bring scenes and shots to life.
  • Adjust and integrate existing Niagara effects to suit individual shots.
  • Manage final rendering directly within Unreal Engine.
  • Troubleshoot creative and technical issues as they arise during production.
  • Work independently, making clear decisions while knowing when to involve other artists or technical support.

What we’re looking for

  • Professional experience creating cinematics, trailers, previs or narrative sequences using Unreal Engine.
  • Strong experience working with Unreal Engine Sequencer.
  • A strong visual eye for camera composition, framing, storytelling and pacing.
  • Experience editing cinematic content using Adobe Premiere or similar editing software.
  • Confidence taking a sequence from initial brief through to final render.
  • A practical understanding of animation and realtime cinematic workflows.
  • Experience working with Niagara or other realtime FX systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving production environment and taking ownership of your work.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with Directors, artists and production teams.

What you might add

  • Experience working on AAA games or high-end in-game cinematics.
  • A background in previs, layout, animation or cinematic lighting.
  • Experience creating or adapting realtime FX.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine rendering and optimisation workflows.
  • Experience working across both games and cinematic VFX production.
