VFX Production Accountant
The VFX Production Accountant is responsible for monitoring and tracking cost projections and actuals across assigned productions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to grow their career in production finance within a structured, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with VFX Producers on the financial management of assigned lower-complexity productions, including the review of bids and bid revisions under the supervision of senior production finance team members.
- Manage cost reports, monitor project progression, and analyze changes in cost projections versus actuals, performing standard departmental variance analysis.
- Update and manage revenue expectations and payment schedules in internal trackers; coordinate invoicing and collections for assigned projects.
- Assist production leadership with running financial scenarios and other ad-hoc analysis as directed.
- Monitor resource and labor projections and assist in tracking tax credit, rebate, and grant qualifications across relevant regions.
- Handle the creation and onboarding for new vendors in the Supplier Hub, guiding them through local/international payment workflows.
- Facilitate local Purchase Orders and manage the invoicing, tracking, and collections for local client revenue streams.
- Act as the local point of contact to troubleshoot tax, accounting, and stakeholder inquiries, quickly adapting to unique project challenges.
- Support freelance outsource tracking, forecasting, and basic variance analysis.
- Collaborate with the Global Finance team to generate bi-weekly and monthly cost reports and project-specific financial data.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor degree preferred
- Familiarity with Excel and Google Sheets
- Basic understanding of accounting principles under US GAAP
- Experience in the film industry/animation/gaming or VFX preferred but not required
- Proven ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines while working under supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial data to non-finance stakeholders
