Animation Supervisor
DIGIC Pictures has been making 3D animated films for more than twenty years. We have won numerous prestigious awards and created short films for world-renowned brands such as Call of Duty, Netflix's Love, Death & Robots and Amazon's Secret Level series.
Our team is currently working on several high-profile projects, including the animated film series based on the world-famous card game Magic: The Gathering for Netflix.
The Animation Supervisor is the bearer of the highest level of professional responsibility for the project in the Animation Division.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation, assessment, and bidding of projects and the enforcement of professional aspects within the field
- Evaluate the size and complexity of the project, make proposals to the organizational director regarding the assignment of right people as leads and the workflow in the division
- Provide high-level professional management and control of the Leads on the project; giving feedback on their work
- Monitor the implementation of projects in cooperation with the Leads; professional coordination within the division, with other divisions and production staff - documenting this information in the appropriate place in the internal production software if necessary
- Provide mentoring to team members, supporting their professional development
- Inform the project manager and stakeholders in a timely manner if any obstacles arise in the project, especially those that may cause negative consequences in other areas ; solve the problem by coordinating with the relevant departments
- Make recommendations to the Division Lead about shortcomings and problems in working methods based on previous experiences. Implement efficiency-enhancing methods formulated by the Division Lead during projects, provide feedback on their effectiveness
- Participate in the post-mortem phase and process lessons learned at the division level
- Actively communicate any questions or blockers using our internal production tool and directly with leads
- Collaborate with other departments to help ensure successful project delivery
Essential skills
Professional qualifications:
- Feature Animation experience - (ideally long-form or high-end episodic)
- Have the confidence and experience to take ownership of a sequence
- Deep understanding of animation principles
- Confident use of Maya or other professional animation software
- Confident use of RV for animation review
- Strong artistic skills in character animation
- Solid knowledge of film pipelines and asset production workflows
- Intermediate or higher English proficiency
