CG Supervisor - Series
Sony Pictures Animation is seeking an experienced CG Supervisor for an unannounced CG series. The CG Supervisor oversees the technical and aesthetic aspects of production, collaborating with creative and technical support teams to ensure quality standards are met within budget and schedule parameters. This role utilizes technical knowledge to execute the production’s creative vision, working closely with Creative Leadership and reporting to the Supervising Producer. The CG Supervisor facilitates clear communication and establishes effective workflows between Sony Pictures Animation and our vendor studios.

Responsibilities: Assess the technical and aesthetic content of each episode from script to animatic and inform Producers of any concerns. Participate in all pre‑production meetings as requested. Review scripts and story animatics and work with production to find creative solutions to production challenges. Ensure the highest quality of production is achieved within the allotted budget and schedule. Work with production to review and approve internal design breakdowns, internal CG art team assignments, schedule and vendor asset bids. Occasionally work hands‑on with CG assets as required. Problem‑solve CG asset work (model, rig, texture, light, comp), especially assets that vendors find challenging. Review and respond to vendor complexity feedback at the animatic stage. Advise and support Producers to ensure the highest quality of animation is achieved within the schedule. Work closely with Producers to ensure production follows studio pipeline protocols. Understand vendor pipelines and advise production and creatives on standard processes. Attend vendor meetings and launches as requested. Collaborate with other CG art leads to create documentation and standard process guides for vendor studios. Review all vendor asset deliveries, oversee notes and feedback to vendor studios. Review other shot production deliveries as needed and provide notes if requested. Collaborate with Production Management to ensure the technical and creative team meets schedule. Communicate any concerns proactively to the Supervising Producer, Line Producer, or Production Manager. Interpret the Executive Producer, Supervising Producer, and Production Designer’s asset vision for the team. Resolve the most efficient way to expedite production both internally and at vendor studios.
Qualifications: The CG Supervisor must have expert‑level knowledge and experience both hands‑on in CG asset creation and shot work. Previous supervisory experience on an animated feature film, TV series, or game is preferred. Experience providing technical support and training to production teams. Proven knowledge of all facets of the animation process. Proven leadership and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Ability to balance work across multiple episodes and stages of production. Knowledge of or ability to learn applicable design software and hardware. Recent hands‑on experience in multiple disciplines of the CG pipeline, including assets (model, texture, rig), animation, lighting, and compositing. Bonus if able to write simple code. Promote a positive and productive work environment and lead collaboratively across departments.
