Facial Performance Pipeline TD

Purpose of the job
Digital Domain is a world leader in realistic CG facial performance as seen in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, achieved through our award winning Masquerade facial capture and animation workflow. The Facial Performance Pipeline TD is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the Masquerade pipeline. They design, implement, and manage tools that assist software developers and digital artists with their daily use of both third party and in-house software and systems. The role requires strong technical and communication skills, as well as a firm understanding of facial motion capture, retargeting, software design, computer graphics, and production workflow. Facial Performance Pipeline TDs work with peers and supervisors to craft novel tools, techniques, and procedures, as directed by the Department Head and the Domain Pipeline Supervisor. They also provide show support as needed for artists using the Facial Performance pipeline and toolset.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Ability to work with artists and other TDs to help design and create tools to be integrated into
Digital Domain's existing pipeline. These tools will be created using a combination of custom and commercial Python and C++ APIs.
- Work with Facial Performance Leads to augment the team's workflows and toolsets to achieve
specific goals of the project.
- Work directly with artists to troubleshoot and fix problems.
- Craft and update documentation for tools, techniques, and workflows generated.
- Write unit and integration tests for new and existing code.
Education and/or Experience Required
- 3+ years experience as a Technical Director.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with creating GUIs with PySide/PyQt.
- Desirable to have experience or interest in multi-view reconstruction, motion capture, geometry
processing, OpenCV, sparse data interpolation, machine learning, numpy/pytorch/scikit-learn
- Proficiency in one or more professional graphics package Python/C++ APIs, including the
Maya SDK, Houdini HDK, and/or Nuke SDK preferred.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands
- Office working environment.
- Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending
production needs.
- Walking/bending/sitting.

The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the provinces of British Columbia. The range is posted in accordance with applicable law. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in the provinces of British Columbia.
