Lighting and Compositing Artist (3-month contract)
Job Summary
We’re excited to be back in our Montreal studio Tuesday thru Thursday… come join us! Under general supervision of the Lighting Supervisor this position is responsible for creating and fine-tuning lighting and shadows for assigned shots, rendering layers, and compositing those layers to create the final image.
Responsibilities
- Light production shots as required by lighting quota and Supervisor and perform technical work in support of shot lighting using a variety of tools.
- Partner with the Director, Lead Lighter/Compositor and other staff to understand mood, time of day and color of the composition.
- Follow the creative direction of the production from a lighting standpoint as communicated by the Supervisor.
- Identify to the Supervisor problems that lighting could potentially present with respect to timelines and delivery schedules.
- Performing compositing operations with the rendered layers created, including overall look and feel, color correction, extractions, rotoscoping, and other compositing effects as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree/diploma in fine arts or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Lighting and Compositing Artist (or equivalent)
- Thorough knowledge of high-end 3D software, Katana, Nuke
- Thorough knowledge of high-end Rendering software Arnold
- Strong demonstration of composition, lighting and color
- Thorough knowledge of node based compositing systems
- Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
