Under general supervision of the CG Supervisor and Creative Director the artist is responsible for creating and fine-tuning lighting and shadows for assigned shots and rendering layers to create the final look.
- Degree/diploma in fine arts or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Lighting Artist (or equivalent)
- Thorough knowledge of high-end 3D software, Katana, or similar lighting packages
- Thorough knowledge of high-end Rendering software Arnold
- Strong demonstration of composition, lighting and color
- Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
- A portfolio or reel demonstrating photorealistic lighting, including CG integration into live-action footage where relevant
- Familiarity with linear workflows and color management, including ACES/OCIO

- Light production shots as required by lighting quota and the Supervisor and perform technical work in support of shot lighting using a variety of tools.
- Follow the creative direction of the production from a lighting standpoint as communicated by the Supervisor.
- Identify to the Supervisor problems that lighting could potentially present with respect to timelines and delivery schedules.
- Create photorealistic lighting using photographic references, HDRIs and available on-set lighting data, matching light direction.
- Ensure CG lighting elements integrate seamlessly into live-action plates/elements.
- Work with surfacing and look development artists to ensure materials respond convincingly under shot lighting.
