MM / RA Artist (Short Term Contract Role)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Matchmove & Rotomation Artist to join our VFX production team on a short-term project contract. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and artistic skills, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality camera tracking and rotomation work under tight production deadlines.
You will be responsible for accurately matching camera and object movements, performing detailed character or prop rotomation, and ensuring the seamless integration of CG elements with live-action plates.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute precise camera and object tracking using live-action plates, survey data, and lens information.
- Perform rotomation of characters, vehicles, and props to match filmed performances with accuracy.
- Ensure scale consistency, proper scene setup, and alignment across shots and sequences.
- Collaborate with Animation, Layout, Lighting, and Compositing departments for smooth shot handovers.
- Troubleshoot and refine camera or object solves to eliminate drift or alignment issues.
- Maintain clear scene organization, naming conventions, and shot version control.
- Work efficiently to meet tight project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Provide input or support to improve pipeline efficiency if required.
Requirements
Experience: 3–6 years of experience in Matchmove and Rotomation for feature films, episodic content, or high-end commercial VFX.
Software Proficiency:
- Tracking: 3DEqualizer, PFTrack, SynthEyes
- 3D: Autodesk Maya
- Compositing: Nuke (for validation and review).
Strong understanding of camera lenses, distortion workflows, focal length, and scene scaling.
Familiar with Linux and Windows production environments.
Excellent eye for detail, perspective, and motion continuity.
