Ride Development Engineers work within a Project Engineering team and are responsible for every aspect of mechanical ride system design & development from concept through installation. They work on various innovative ride platforms, that include unique requirements for extreme duty cycles, high reliability, and inherent life safety. They must collaborate on diverse teams with technical and creative members and be comfortable in environments where scope and requirements change frequently.
The Ride Development Engineer Sr. will report to the Executive Ride Development Engineering.
This is a full time role.
What You Will Do:
Manage the entire scope to conceive, design, & deliver a wide variety of complex & innovative ride systems and related equipment, ensuring durability, reliability, and safety.
“Clean sheet” concept design rides that meet creative intent and business requirements.
Distill an technical requirements from high-level experience
Develop stakeholder specifications for interfaces.
Supervise the daily activities of an engineering team through all project stages.
Ensure clarity in documentation of testing and safety.
Manage outside vendors and contractors.
Own engineering model releases.
Lead high-fidelity proof-of-concept builds.
Direct the procurement of outside contracts.
Oversee on-site installation of mechanical systems.
Conduct field surveys and the use of safety equipment.
Travel and support successful launches internationally.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience with mechanical designs.
Broad experience with materials and various manufacturing.
Advanced engineering analysis skills.
Capable of hand calculations and FEA methods.
Expertise in mechanisms, drives, and structures.
Proficient with CAD and simulation tools.
Excellent creative problem-solving.
Ability to travel globally for site reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
Disney or themed entertainment experience.
Life safety design experience.
Product testing background.
Professional engineering (PE).
Active PE license.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or PE license.
