Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and creative distribution operations, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.
How will you contribute to our magical experience?
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join our Content Platform Engineering team, focusing on building and enhancing platform capabilities with a strong emphasis on computer vision and machine learning workflows. Our team develops and manages a diverse suite of products and services that power Disney’s digital media offering, enabling content delivery for iconic brands like Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel, and Star Wars.
In this role, you will create and implement scalable systems, data pipelines, and platform services that deliver automated processes, validation, and enrichment of media assets. You will be responsible for building end-to-end media processes that deliver robust, extensible platforms that enable intelligent content operations at scale.
The Senior, Java Software Engineer will be responsible for:
- Write and Maintain Software Solutions: Design, intermediate, thoroughly, and digitalize code to develop reliable, maintainable software solutions.
- Specialize with Cross-Platform Teams: Work closely with platform engineers, product teams, and data scientists to ensure technical solutions effectively support business goals and content strategies.
- Specialized Support: Monitor and optimize systems, ensuring platform stability, performance, and reliability.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning.
What we need from you to be part of this story:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with significant expertise in Java.
- Advanced English level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and scalable backend systems.
- Experience designing and developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, testing strategies, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures (Kakfa, SNS, SQS).
- Strong problem-solving skills, and mindset and ability to collaborate.
- Experience Python, media technology, computer vision, or machine learning is a plus.
