My name is Kyle Di Maio, I am 26 years old and I am a recent graduate from the VFX Design of 3 year course at the "Gian Maria Volontè" School of Cinematographic Art in Rome, Italy. I hold dual nationality: British and Italian. I am currently seeking a VFX Junior Compositor role .
During my training, I gained hands-on experience using industry-standard software across compositing, 3D and matte painting. The course included several short internships with VFX companies in Rome, where I worked on a range of projects under the supervision of senior artists. These experiences allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to real production scenarios and receive valuable guidance and feedback.
I have also had the opportunity to gain on-set experience, which led to my first IMDb credit. This helped me understand better the full production pipeline and how compositing fits into the broader filmmaking process.
I don't have an artistic background as a lot of my colleagues, but I have learned a lot about the balance of artistic and technical aspect. I genuinely enjoy problem-solving in compositing; I am aware of the difficulty of some shoots to master, so I try understanding not just how to complete a shot within deadlines, but how to improve my workflow and organisational skills, learning from my mistakes. I am highly motivated, reliable, have good time management skills, work well in a team and eager to learn and grow as an artist.
Working in the UK VFX industry would be a dream for me and I would welcome the opportunity to work and develop my career abroad.
