Data I/O Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Data I/O Technician, you will work closely with the Manager, Data I/O in the data to day operations of the Shipping/Receiving and Data IO departments and complete tasks assigned to all vault and data IO technicians, following best practices with respect to all assigned tasks, communicating with production staff and advising on project workflows as needed.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Data I/O Technician will work with the studio producers to ensure digital deliverables are delivered accurately and on time. They will have a full understanding of content security requirements and best practices, innovate and improve department workflows and environments, as well as troubleshoot connectivity & file naming issues. They will be responsible for data archive and back-up per the company's policy, ingest & restore LTO tapes received from outside vendors, report back any issues to the Producer, and spot check in-house LTO tapes to ensure data is archived correctly and compatibility with other systems. They will use a 3-point check system to archive & delete files where required, write LTO deliverables to client specifications, and receive and virus scan client hard drives before ingest. Additional responsibilities include the following:
- Ingest data from hard drives and copy to the appropriate production volume
- Receive & Ship Domestic & International Freight
- Become familiar with FedEx Ship Manager, DHL Software
- Become familiar with UPS, TNT Waybills
- Liaise with External Shipping Couriers
- Enter, move and withdraw elements from inventory database
- Perform shelf audits on a weekly basis.
- Create accurate records of all elements in the vault database
- Fulfill requests for assets and media to the requirements of each work order
- Stage assets and media with orders, so that they are ready for production
- Scan media to each work order or staff person
- Re-vault elements from the production areas in a timely fashion
- Deliver and pick up elements within the building
- Manage vault space to make room for new elements and identify and move inactive elements
- Ensure that all elements are securely stored and handled.

WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage workload and meet deadlines, as well as strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills. They must be knowledgeable of the postproduction industry and workflows, including knowledge of file delivery systems, including Aspera and Mediashuttle. Additional desired skills include:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Xytech Media Pulse is an asset
- Knowledge of Windows & OSX and Linux
- Knowledge of Netflix, AWS & Apple workflows
