Desktop Support Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Desktop Support Engineer to manage end-user systems and provide technical support in a fast-paced VFX production environment. The ideal candidate should understand high-performance workstation requirements, render workflows, and production-critical IT support.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide L1/L2 desktop support to artists, production, and support teams.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux workstations.
- Troubleshoot hardware, OS, software, and network-related issues.
- Provide on-call support during critical production timelines.
VFX Workstation Management
- Configure high-performance systems (GPU-based workstations).
- Install and support software such as:
- Maya
- Houdini
- Nuke
- Adobe Creative Suite
- ShotGrid or production tracking tools
- Manage software licensing and updates.
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Basic troubleshooting of LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Assist in maintaining file servers, NAS storage, and backup systems.
- Coordinate with IT team for render farm connectivity and performance issues.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain IT asset records and hardware inventory.
- Coordinate procurement and vendor support for hardware repairs.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure antivirus updates and system security policies.
- Maintain user access controls and data protection standards.
Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Diploma / Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in desktop support (VFX/Animation industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS; Linux knowledge is an added advantage.
Skills Required
- Hardware troubleshooting (CPU, GPU, RAM, storage issues)
- Knowledge of RAID / NAS storage systems
- Basic networking knowledge (IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Understanding of render farm environments (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to handle production pressure
