Job Description
We are seeking a talented CFX Artist with Unreal Engine experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and managing setups, including cloth, hair, feathers, skin, and muscles, bridging traditional high-end VFX workflows with real-time technologies. This role requires a strong technical foundation combined with a keen eye for visual effects and simulation behaviors.
Responsibilities:
- Character Setup: Set up and maintain character rigs and simulation setups for cloth, hair, feathers, skin, and muscles.
- Pipeline & Tools: Support and develop pipeline tools for both show and studio initiatives, ensuring seamless asset integration.
- Workflow Efficiency: Identify areas for improvement in performance and pipeline efficiency.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with supervisors, leads, and other departments to ensure a smooth interchange of assets and efficient workload management.
- Team Engagement: Actively participate in dailies, reviews, and team discussions.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical simulation issues and find creative solutions in collaboration with the team.
- Production Standards: Meet project deadlines and production quotas while maintaining high-quality aesthetic standards.
Qualifications:
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Houdini is essential.
- Real-Time Expertise: Strong background and practical experience with Unreal Engine simulation workflows for CFX (e.g., Chaos, Groom, Control Rig, MetaHuman).
- Industry Workflows: Deep understanding of animated feature films and VFX CFX principles, techniques, and asset turnover interpretations.
- Core Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and robust teamwork skills.
- Time Management: Proven ability to manage time effectively to meet tight production deadlines.
- Experience: Experience working in a production environment at a major VFX/feature or Game studio.
Experience:
- 5+ years of meaningful experience in visual effects, animated feature films or games
- 2+ years of production CFX experience in Unreal Engine
- Knowledge of Chaos Tools
- Production experience using Katana, Arnold and Nuke or any similar global illumination renderer a plus
- Knowledge of Houdini/Houdini engine in UE a major plus
- Demo reel that represents your skillset from past production experience
