Digital Matte Painter (Wallonia)
As a Digital Matte Painter, you will be responsible for creating detailed and photorealistic 2D/2.5D environments for VFX shots in films and series. You will work from references, concepts, or on-set plates to produce matte paintings that integrate seamlessly into final shots. You will collaborate closely with compositing, CG, and lighting teams to ensure visual consistency and artistic quality.
Key missions:
- Create high-quality 2D/2.5D photorealistic matte paintings based on references, concepts, or live-action plates.
- Adjust matte paintings based on feedback, optimizing visual quality while respecting production deadlines.
- Integrate matte paintings into CG or live-action scenes, ensuring accurate lighting, perspective, and adherence to art direction.
- Prepare 2.5D projections (camera projections) for use in compositing or 3D environments.
- Collaborate with supervisors, compositors, and CG artists to ensure proper integration and artistic consistency.
Profile
- 3 to 6 years of experience as a Digital Matte Painter in a VFX, animation, or post-production studio.
- Strong proficiency in Photoshop; knowledge of Nuke or 2.5D projection tools is a strong plus.
- Solid understanding of composition, perspective, lighting, and photorealism.
- Familiarity with CG workflows and compositing integration.
- Ability to work autonomously while communicating effectively with artistic and technical teams.
- Strong attention to detail, artistic sensitivity, and adaptability to feedback
