Matte Painter (Stylized)
DIGIC is an Annie Award-winning animation studio based in Budapest, Hungary. We focus on powerful storytelling, building unique worlds and universes through visually distinct narratives. Our studio produces full CG 3D animation and visual effects for video games, commercials, and feature films — collaborating with prestigious clients across the globe.
We’re looking for skilled Mid-level and Senior MATTE PAINTERS with a background in stylized projects to join our team. You’ll be working on stylized matte paintings, projection elements, and overpainted environments for a high-quality full-CG animated series — from isolated plates to complete scene backgrounds — under the direction of the Art Director and Supervisor.

Responsibilities
- Create high-quality stylized matte paintings and projection setups for a specific full-CG animated production at DIGIC
- Perform digital overpaints and 2.5D enhancements based on concept, layout, or rendered elements
- Ensure seamless integration of painted elements into stylized environments and camera projections
- Collaborate closely with the project's Art Director and Leads to maintain a consistent visual style
- Iterate based on feedback and adapt to evolving production needs
Essential skills
- Strong visual and painting skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Photoshop
- High-level proficiency in Nuke
- Experience working in a full-CG animation pipeline
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to feedback
- Solid English communication skills
Application requirements
- A strong portfolio in stylized environment or matte painting work is essential for this role
Desirable skills
- Experience with 3D environment workflows
- Familiarity with modeling, texturing, and shading
- Working knowledge of Maya
- Background in traditional or digital arts (degree or equivalent experience)
- Willingness to share knowledge and support other team members
