Payroll Specialist
Purpose of the job
You will work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and a deep knowledge of payroll regulations. We also value integrity, team spirit and strong organizational skills. Your goal will be to ensure our payroll procedures are compliant, efficient, and current.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Manage and process employee hours and earnings using Oracle; troubleshoot timecard
issues and ensure accurate data flow into payroll.
- Maintain employee payroll records in ADP, including hires, terminations, wage rate
changes, status updates, voluntary deductions, and wage garnishments.
- Ensure the accurate calculation of statutory deductions, taxable benefits, vacation pay,
and other earnings in accordance with applicable laws.
- Reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy prior to transmission; validate payroll reports
and confirm payment details.
- Prepare and submit government remittances and reports to external bodies such as
Workers’ Compensation and BC Employer Health Tax (EHT).
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and external
stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) and calculate final pay for
terminations.
- Process year-end tax reporting, including preparation and reconciliation of T4s,
summaries, and other year-end filings.
- Maintain compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations and internal policies.
- Generate ad hoc payroll reports and support Finance/Accounting with payroll-related data
and reconciliations as needed.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in payroll processes, documentation, and internal
controls.
Education and/or Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related-field required.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred.
- 2+ years work experience in payroll.
- 2+ years work experience in full cycle accounting
- Experience user of ADP.
- Should be an intermediate Excel user.
- Experience working with Oracle considered an asset.

The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the provinces of British Columbia. The range is posted in accordance with applicable law.
