Associate Production Accountant
Purpose of the job
The Associate Production Accountant will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a variety of reports in Production Finance. This role will be instrumental in providing ongoing support and analysis of the financial health of projects and report projected forecasts to the Production Finance team. The Associate will also collaborate with production accountants in maintaining and updating project Estimated Final Cost reports. Problem solving, analysis and forecasting are essential components of this role and will be part of a fast- moving and dynamic working environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible to help manage the day to day oversight of various projects’ financial health
- Assist Production Finance team and Producers with bidding, budgeting and projections
- Partner with Accounting department for day to day oversight of general accounting needs, as
well as month-end financial reporting and cost reclassifications
- Support OH, Production and P&L forecasting and planning activities across the Studio
- Assist with by-title P&L project profitability reporting across all units
- Prepare cost analyses and other special reports as needed
- Maintain assigned Production Finance records, cost accounts, and AR databases
- Prepare and manage billing and collections for assigned productions. In addition, aid in
following up on outstanding and upcoming invoices from Clients
- Generate standard weekly financial reports and ad-hoc reports as needed
- Assist with data entry of tasks and assets in the Business’ ERP systems
- Manage project folders to ensure contracts, change orders, purchase orders, bids. and
payment schedules are kept current
- Help Production Finance team in improving, innovating and implementing new workflow
business processes
Education and/or Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 1+ years of industry related accounting
experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- VFX and project-based work experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookups) and proficiency with database applications
- Exposure to Oracle projects and/or other ERP software are nice to have
- Excellent oral, written and analytical skills required
- Strong financial modelling abilities
- Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and project management skills
- Attention to detail, desire for accuracy and a strong sense of urgency
- Self-motivated, ability to quickly learn new concepts, solve problems and implement solutions

- Office working or remote work environment
- Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but might require extra hours pending
production needs

The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the state of California and the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec. The range is posted in accordance with applicable law. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in markets outside of California or the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec.
